About Stéphane

I'm Stephane, French native originally from Bordeaux (yes the good wine !!).
I studied computer science then graduated a master in marketing in Paris. I've been living in Dublin for 18 years now, working for a fintech company.
I have few years experience in teaching French for all levels and I enjoy it. In addition to the financial help, it brings great human and social experience.

Here is e a comprehensive plan I would follow with my students:

1. Assessment of Current Level
Purpose: Understand the learner's current proficiency in French.
Activities: Casual conversation in French, a written test covering basic grammar and vocabulary, or an assessment of comprehension through listening exercises. That part could be achieved during the free session on the 1st class.

2. Setting Goals
Purpose: Define clear, achievable goals.
Short-Term Goals: Basic conversational phrases, understanding of present tense verbs, etc.
Long-Term Goals: Fluency, advanced grammar comprehension, cultural fluency.

3. Curriculum Development
Beginner Level
Vocabulary: Start with greetings, common phrases, numbers, days of the week, and essential nouns and adjectives.
Grammar: Introduce articles, gender of nouns, present tense verbs, and essential sentence structures.
Pronunciation: Focus on French sounds that are challenging for learners, using phonetic exercises.
Culture: Introduce French customs, basic etiquette, and cultural contexts of language use.

Intermediate Level
Vocabulary: Expand to include more abstract concepts, idioms, and conversation fillers.
Grammar: Dive into past and future tenses, conditional mood, subjunctive mood, and more complex sentence structures.
Pronunciation: Refine pronunciation with more nuanced sounds and rhythm of the French language.
Culture: Explore regional dialects, history, literature, and media.

Advanced Level
Vocabulary: Focus on specialized fields of interest or professional vocabulary.
Grammar: Master complex grammatical structures, indirect speech, and nuanced language use.
Pronunciation: Aim for accent reduction and fluency.
Culture: Deep dive into French philosophy, arts, and advanced social and political conversations.

4. Instructional Strategies
Interactive Activities: Role-plays, conversation practice and language games.
Technology Integration: Use language learning apps, online resources, and multimedia (French songs, movies, podcasts) for immersion.
Assessment: Regular quizzes, oral presentations, and writing assignments to track progress.
Feedback: Provide constructive feedback focusing on strengths and areas for improvement.

5. Schedule and Timeline
Weekly schedule that balances grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and cultural learning.
Adjust the pace based on the learner's progress and feedback.

6. Evaluation and Adjustment
Periodic Review: Regularly revisit goals and adjust teaching methods as needed.
Learner Feedback: Encourage feedback on what is working and what can be improved.
