About Bismha
I am a newly Qualified History teacher with a humanities background. I adopt a relaxed yet engaging teaching style which aims to suit the needs of all my learners so that every pupil is able to reach their full potential. I am a strong advocate for pupil voice and children's rights, and believe that every child has the right to voice their opinion. My sessions will therefore be based on your choice and preferences :) Prior to qualifying as a History teacher, I worked for the Children's Commissioner for Wales as a Participation Intern. My role involved working with children and young people across Wales, making sure that they were aware about their rights under the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC 1989). My work involved delivering lessons and workshops to children and young people in schools and within communities, developing and publishing resources, and working with a range of different organisations as well as the Government to ensure that every young person in Wales enjoyed their rights under the UNCRC 1989 University : - Swansea University - International Relations and Modern History (BA) [1st Class Honours] - University of Wales Trinity Saint David - PGCE Secondary (History) [Pass] School : St Joseph's Catholic School and Sixth Form Centre A Levels - Sociology [A] - Skills [A] - History [B] - Law [B] St Joseph's Catholic School and Sixth Form Centre AS Levels - Sociology [A] - History [B] - Law [B] St Joseph's Catholic School and Sixth Form Centre GCSEs - English Language [B] - English Literature [B] - Maths [C] - Chemistry [B] - Physics [B] - Biology [B] - Welsh [A] - Religious Studies [A*] - History [A] - Geography [B] - Home Economics [B]

The fast paced and far reaching nature of our office meant that Bismha worked with children and young people aged 2 -18 from across Wales. During her time at the office Bismha created and delivered her own lessons in a range of settings. She proved more than capable of scaffolding and resourcing lessons to suit pupils needs and abilities, often having to do this dynamically during the lesson due to the nature of our work. Bismha also proved capable of dynamically risk assessing her work space ensuring that all pupils remained safe while engaging in her lessons.
Bismha played a key role in a number of important pieces of work during her time at the office. This included:
- Building Blocks: Inclusion in the Foundation Phase (report and toolkit) – Bismha supported the team during the research and report writing for this piece of work. Bismha showed keen interest in understanding how to create an inclusive environment and support vulnerable learners. I know Bismha reflected on the ‘Interesting Practice’ we collected and thought about how she could include aspects of that into her own teaching style.
- Make a difference: A young person’s guide to taking action – Bismha played a large role in this work. She consulted with young people about their experience of school councils and pupil voice. She used that information to help our team create resources to support young people to make positive change.
I believe that Bismha will be an asset to your team, she has an in depth knowledge and understanding of children’s human rights Bismha will be able to use this knowledge of children’s rights in her teaching practice and I believe she will use it to ensure that any child or young person she tutors will feel valued and supported.View more recommendations
