I have developed a strong interest in English and poetry through my experience as a high school student, and I enjoy helping others understand poems in a way that feels clear and approachable. Poetry can sometimes feel confusing because of figurative language, symbolism, and deeper meanings, but I have learned how to break poems down step by step so they are easier to understand. In my English classes, I regularly analyze poems by identifying themes, tone, imagery, and literary devices such as metaphor, simile, and personification. These skills allow me to explain how poets communicate emotions, ideas, and messages through their writing. I also enjoy discussing how historical context, the author’s background, and word choice can affect the meaning of a poem.
