About Kathleen
I am a retired reading specialist with 41 years teaching experience. I am passionate about reading and adore helping children become proficient, excited readers. I especially have a heart for struggling readers and believe all children can show reading improvement with a trained, caring mentor. I love working with 1st through fifth grade students. I believe in positive reinforcement and working closely with the parents to support their developing reader. I also enjoy working with readers just for enrichment as well.

I will access and discover what areas your reader is struggling in and develop an individualized plan to remediate areas of need. I will help your child become a strong decoder and help them learn the 1,000 needed high frequency words. We will read real text together to foster both fluency and comprehension. I will keep the parents updated as to their child’s progress and suggest ways for the parent to promote reading achievement in their child.
