About Charliy
I have always wanted the chance to be a tutor but I am new to it. I have enjoyed working with younger children during my time at Pizza Hut (lots of pizza making birthday parties) and at a pottery painting shop (also lots of birthday parties), showing that I can demonstrate responsibility and leadership whilst still having fun. From completing the 11+ to present, education has been a fundamental part of my life. I've always really enjoyed studying and learning and so the opportunity to help someone with these skills is exciting and rewarding.
As stated above, I am currently on track for a first class honours Bsc at KCL in Biomedical Sciences but also achieved A grade at A level and A* at GCSE in Biology. I have loved working with food from a really young age as my mum was a chef by trade and obtained a bit of professional experience working in the kitchen of a cafe and for a wedding caterer. This natural love of cooking paired with my passion for nutrition and eating to feel good, means that I am adept at making healthy also yummy.
I am approachable and easy to ask questions to, and my passion for the subject makes me interested to know the answers- I'm constantly learning more and more, and it would be a privilege to share this and help people. I'm constantly curious about new research and expanding my knowledge base, which is a luxury many people don't have time for- I'd love to read around anything to help you and decipher the useful information from the fake news.
Perhaps you're about to start uni and are worried your cooking skills aren't up to scratch and you envision living on pot noodle and pasta, or already eat healthily but want to feel better and more energised or aren't even sure, but don't feel good day to day- please feel free to contact me and ask questions, I'd love to hear from you.
Best wishes,
Charliy

I am a 3rd year Biomedical Sciences student at KCL, specializing in nutrition, metabolism and genetics. In the past 2 years, I have been incredibly humbled by the importance of health as I have myself, struggled with a host of health problems, largely undiagnosed but including fibromyalgia, clinical depression, anxiety and suspected Crohn's disease.
We are heading towards a health apocalypse: 1 in 2 people struggle with chronic illness and these are figures that are increasing. It is not uncommon for people to become unwell and this be the beginning of an awful cycle of medication addiction, which inevitably brings more side effects as well as reliance. It is estimated that if the exponential increase in need for medications keeps going, in the next 50 years there will not be enough money to produce the amount of drugs we will all 'need' . I am fortunate with my background and passion for the subject, that I have avoided medication and rely on other mean's to help myself recover, and the process is slow but there is progress. I want to share my knowledge on eating healthily, learning to reintegrate exercise, understanding the stress response and how to reduce its clutches and how 'disease' is in some ways a myth, we are all just on a scale of wellness and we should all always be hoping for better. And we should all be looking for ways to do this ourselves: in this environment of false stability, we are taught not to care about what our bodies feel like, we are taught to feel self entitled to making ourselves work and push ourselves beyond feeling healthy.
Ways in which I can help include: meal plans and recipe run-throughs, grocery shopping, goal-setting and motivation, meditation and understanding illness so that it doesn't feel like something that has taken over your life. How I can help is entirely dependent on what you need, but I really would love to help people feel more healthy and in power of their bodies and so don't hesitate to ask me any questions.
Best wishes,
Charliy
