About Sarah
For me, I’ve always wanted to learn. I always want to know more and knew that being in a classroom was the best place for me. I’ve wanted to teach since I was 11 and was inspired by my own teachers to ‘make a difference’ like they did for me and I hope that’s what I can do for my students!
I know that learning isn’t for everyone and not everyone thrives in a classroom; that’s why I ensure my classroom is somewhere everyone feels welcome and is encouraged to thrive in a way that suits them. No one learns the same way, nor does everyone understand everything in the same way, which is why I ensure that I take the time to get to know my students and adapt the learning in a way that best fits their needs (and hopefully isn’t boring!)

About what I can offer:
My preferred texts for teaching GCSE English Literature are Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’, Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’, Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers’ and Priestley’s ‘An Inspector Calls’.
When teaching GCSE Drama, I always prefer to teach Russell’s ‘Blood Brothers’ as the set text for Section B of Component 1, but skills are transferable for Sections A and C so therefore I can tutor any student on these for the AQA specification.
About my teaching style:
I like to think that part of my job is making these exams seem both fun and accessible, so I do what I can in both my tutoring and in-classroom teaching to make this happen. I try and keep it modern, I keep it engaging, and I try and break all concepts down into their most simple format to allow students to build on this knowledge later on. Students should be expected to be called upon for answers, create written responses in timed conditions and engage with any worksheets or revision activities given with feedback given either live or at a later date.
About my tutoring sessions:
My tutoring sessions can be anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, but I always encourage students to book for the time they feel they can completely engage for. I am a huge advocate for mental health, and would actively encourage students to only book in for sessions they know they can manage. It is so important that students are giving themselves time to protect their mental health outside of their studies.
Due to being a full-time classroom teacher myself, my tutoring sessions would be from 5pm onwards Monday-Friday. Should you be local to myself (this can be discussed at a later date) I am happy to meet for in-person tutoring, but can also complete this online via zoom should this be preferred.
