Hello, my name is Tawana but you can call me Tee! I am currently working as a GCSE Chemistry Teacher in a SEND school. I began my teaching career as a one-to-one Maths and Science tutor before becoming Head of Science at my school, meaning I have experience with both class-based and one-to-one teaching. I have a flexible teaching style depending on the individual, from a very hands-on guided approach to a light touch approach where an occasional point in the right direction is all that's needed.
My lessons generally follow a tried and tested structure I've developed over the years that takes modern pedagogical research into consideration, where the focus is on cohesive, sequenced learning with regular assessment of learning (AOL) as well as assessment for learning (AOL). Every lesson follows a 3 objective ABC system, where the objectives for the lesson are laid out and presented before the lesson begins to orient the student. A initiates the learning by presenting the basic ideas being explored, B develops what has been initially presented before the student tackles the C objective, which represents a synthesis of the day’s learning. Of course, educators have to be flexible and have contingency plans depending on the situation, which I am able to do.
I am most intimately familiar with AQA as an exam board however I certainly am familiar with Edexcel and OCR.
