About Renz

MS. RENZ’S MUSICAL JOURNEY:
My passion for music began just before my 7th birthday, nurtured by a deeply musical family—my dad plays piano by ear, and my mom plays guitar by rote. Over time, among many hobbies, the piano became my true calling. I graduated from San Jose State University in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and an emphasis in Piano Performance.

Today, I am proud to share that love of music as a K–4th grade music teacher at a private Catholic school (since January 2018) and as a private piano instructor at a local music conservatory (since August 2017). This is work I always find immensely rewarding. I enjoy my teaching job a whole lot!!!

ABOUT YOUR FABULOUS TEACHER:
When I’m not teaching, my hobbies are reading, tufting, eating new foods, watching my favorite tv shows, traveling to new places and of course playing piano!

About the lesson

My musical philosophy:
Encouraging consistent home practice starts with making piano lessons a joyful experience! I firmly believe that when students have fun, meaningful progress naturally follows! My mission is to help each student succeed—whether they dream of playing for family gatherings, school events, or personal enjoyment.

Piano curriculum used:
To support a well-rounded musical education, I use the Alfred’s Basics/Prep Course series and Music for Little Mozarts series. The Little Mozarts curriculum is wonderful for younger children, pairing foundational concepts with creative composer characters. Every lesson blends fundamental skill-building—like tempo, rhythm, and note reading—with dynamic games and activities.

I take great pride in cultivating an encouraging atmosphere, where students leave smiling and eager to keep playing :) I’m here to inspire, share and teach the musical knowledge that has been passed down to me! I’m so excited to be your piano teacher!!!
