Hello, My name is Afiyah and I have over 7 years of experience as a primary school teacher and Head of Year 5. I am offering Tutoring services that focus on supporting SEND, English, Maths and the 11+ exam. I also teach other primary subjects.

I have been teaching full time in a primary school for the last 7 years and enjoy working with children. Throughout my time teaching, I have worked extensively across the primary school curriculum, including year 6 and I am currently the Head of Year 5 and a Science subject leader.
I have worked with a variety of children who have special educational needs/disabilities (SEND) and I have a deep understanding of SEND through my Early Childhood Studies degree.
My teaching approach is dependent on the child I am teaching and how they are most suited to learn, where I adopt a flexible approach to learning which includes both summative and formative assessments, of which you will receive regular feedback on your child's learning and next steps.
One of my primary tools is to utilise engaging videos and activities to ensure children not only learn but have fun while doing so while also incorporating a reward and praise system that helps to build a child's self-esteem and motivates them to learn.
My focus in lessons is to help your child truly understand what they are learning so it can be applied in many different ways as opposed to just learning facts.
