About Jacob
I’m a Politics and Philosophy student who’s passion lies in learning and teaching myself and others how to lead a more fulfilling, spiritually in tune life. I host 2 hour meditation practises for the UoB Meditation Society, where I lead guided meditations and discuss various topics. I’ve been blessed enough to have been a student of many fantastic Spiritual teachers from a range of spiritual traditions, from Taoism, Hinduism and Zen Buddhism. I started on my journey 5 years ago, and have been meditating every day for 4 of those years. My journey into meditation has transformed the way I understand and interact with not only my thoughts and feelings, but with other people and ultimately my entire perspective on life and reality.

Methodology and sessions vary depending on the student’s experience and wants!
With each new client, I firstly explain what we are actually doing when we are meditating and make sure to clear up and popular misconceptions as to what meditation is and isn’t. There’s often tension created in minds of beginners by what they expect of themselves during meditation. These expectations are often wrong and hinder true practise. Once explained properly, I then begin a 15 minute guided meditation, half dedicated to awareness of the senses and the body, and the second half dedicated on awareness of the breath. After this, we will discuss what we noticed during the session - talking about our experiences during meditation is a great way to understand meditation.
We will then move into a theoretical explanation as to how meditation works and breakdown the myriad ways it improves our waking lives outside of meditation.
Following this, we then do another 20 minute meditation, usually a Metta Bhavana (love and kindness meditation), followed by an open discussion on any topic the client or myself desires to discuss and delve into.
