About Stefan

I'm currently a Social Sciences Lead Practitioner and Lead AQA Sociology Examiner.I have relished every opportunity to learn in a school setting and this has included taking on a number of roles and responsibilities which have taken me out of my comfort zone, but all of which have provided invaluable experience. I started my NQT journey as Head of Politics, where our results showed rapid and significant improvement with us continuing to consistently score well above average in all areas of the specification. Whilst in this role, I jumped at the opportunity to focus on developing on independent learning and how as a whole school we can effectively embed independent learning skills development tasks in lessons to help equip students with the skills to access A level and equivalent courses. Furthermore, I really saw the importance of how key extra curricular is for students hoping to develop where I organised international trips and work experiences in the field. I have delivered a successful whole school CPD on the technology in the classroom and how this could be translated out of the context of KS5 and into all other areas of the curriculum. I have continually risen to new challenges each academic year writing and delivering high quality course materials and securing consistently outstanding results in the classes I teach. Having now taught 4 different subjects at KS4 & 5, and led 3 A Levels, I really saw first hand how key understanding the needs of a learner is and utilising their strengths. Recently, I supported a masters programme with a focus on SEN and how to carry out an effective curriculum in both KS4 & KS5.

I believe in providing a range of teaching styles for students to learn effectively. This is a principle I have applied to my lessons and tutoring throughout my teaching career. I am eager to carry on developing these strategies to foster high achievement for my students. I have created a variety of worksheets that can be used to match resources/tasks with student ability. Mixed ability teaching places demands upon us to offer the students an appropriate learning pace. I attempt to start from a position of existing knowledge in a familiar context and then moving on to new ideas. Both written and spoken questions and vocabulary are structured to enable students of all abilities to understand and respond effectively.
