About Emily
I am currently Head of Department for the Sociology department at an inner London school. I specialise in teaching sociology to KS4, and Religious studies to KS3 and KS4. As HoD, so far I have successfully taken six Year 11 classes through their GCSE examinations, and a further four forward for the 23/24 cohort. My recent 22/23 Sociology results were the best in the school, achieving a phenomenal SPI of over +1.8, topping our previous academic result of +1.6, remaining well above the national average for progress.
During my teaching career, I have also taught History and Geography to KS3 level.

I absolutely love the subjects I teach, which is reflected throughout each and every lesson of mine. I am extremely flexible on how I tailor the sessions according to your needs and goals. I can deliver revision sessions, work through assignments, provide exam technique advice, readings, or plan an essay.
For instance, a typical revision style lesson may follow the simple structure of a; starter activity, guided activity, challenge activity, and a plenary. This helps to build up any new or forgetton knowledge whilst also ensuring to push the student and maximise learning. Of course, I will use my experience and expertise to gauge the best lesson style to suit each individuals needs, tailored to help you reach your learning goal.
I will design each session to enable a prosperous learning environment through strategic planning and pedagogy. I will combine the use of digital teaching platforms, videos, articles, books, and interactive exercises to ensure varied sources and formats are being utilised and delivered.
Overall, I am very patient and kind teacher, always taking the time to thoroughly explain things in detail and work alongside the students to achieve the best results.
I work well with students of all ages, with most teaching experience being with students aged between 11-18.
