About Aftab Hasan

I'm the Head Chess Coach at Don Bosco International School, Mumbai, and have taught chess in government schools across the city for over 5 years. I also coach individual students of all ages — from complete beginners to competitive players preparing for tournaments - both in-person in Mumbai and online with students from Canada, the US, the UK, and beyond.

I'm a FIDE-rated player with a Chess.com rapid peak rating of 2000, and I've competed at district, divisional, zonal, and interzonal levels.

Chess is something I've played professionally for over 10 years and genuinely love - I'm an active member of multiple chess clubs and regularly play with high-rated players.

About the lesson

I teach both online and in-person.

Online — I work with students internationally, including from Canada, the US, the UK, and other countries. If you're looking for a structured, reliable chess coach regardless of your timezone, feel free to reach out.

In-person (Mumbai) — I coach at international schools and offer private one-on-one sessions alongside my role as Head Coach at Don Bosco International School and government schools across the city.

I've built a structured curriculum based on my own experience learning and teaching the game. Classes are organised by level — Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced — and cover openings, tactics, puzzles, middle games, and endgames.

The core focus is calculation: visualization, pattern recognition, and creative thinking. That said, I always adapt to what you enjoy most — whether that's puzzles, live games, or theory. The goal is for both of us to enjoy the process.

First class is free — it's a chance to understand your goals before we commit to anything.

Details

The fee is 300 INR per class of 60 minutes. For longer coaching packages, please consult with me.

1 class per week for 1 month - 1200 INR
2 class per week for 1 month - 2400 INR
3 class per week for 1 month - 3600 INR
