About Matthias

I hold a Master's degree in Creative Writing from Boston University and a Ph.D. in Literature from the University of Chicago. For ten years, I taught English full time at North Central College. I know how to help you with writing projects of all kinds, from personal essays to dissertations in the humanities. As a former director of a college Writing Center, I can help students tackle writing projects large and small. I am the author of several poetry collections as well as scholarly works. I have edited several professional literary and academic journals. As a professional writer, I can help you to improve creative and critical works for submission.

About the lesson

Writing is difficult. It is more difficult when we do it alone. When you get stuck with a writing project of any kind, the best way to get unstuck is to share your project with an experienced writer and editor. For nearly 18 years, I have helped writers to find effective, creative solutions to the problems that all writers face. I will listen to your goals, read your drafts, and give you specific advice for creating practical, practice-based improvements to whatever aspects of writing you find most challenging.
