About Kieron

Hi, my name's Kieron, I'm 27 years old and I'm based in Dublin.

I have a PhD in Neurooncology from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). I am currently a post doctoral researched in RCSI looking novel treatments for aggressive brain tumours.

I studied Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths (BBBb) for my A-Levels in Swansea, Wales. I graduated with a 2.1 from the University of Liverpool in Biological and Medical sciences (BSc).

Although I'm relatively new to tutoring, I am extremely passionate in both my studies, but also making sure students experience the feeling where they know they've reached their full potential! To maximise your grades for junior cert and leaving cert sciences, I believe you need to 1) Know the exam curriculum and exam structure very well. This will allow you to 'bank' many marks by just having a good knowledge of the exam structure 2) Implementing personal revision strategies to really understand topics. This will allow you to adapt to the difficult 'off-putting questions' in the heat of the exam, which is essential to reach those top grades.

About the lesson

The rough structure of my lessons will be;
- 1 hour lessons

- 0 - 15mins -I will go over the marked exam style questions I set for my student the previous week
-15 - 45mins - Teach a particular topic in the curriculum
45mins - 1hr - We will break down some complex questions together, and discuss how to approach these questions in an exam. - Closer to the exam the student will be doing these exam style questions under exam conditions. I truly believe adapting to the exam pressure is half the battle!

Above anything else, I want to be a tutor where you never feel afraid to ask questions. The only thing I am concerned about is making sure you understand the work and hopefully find it an enjoyable experience. There is no better feeling going into lessons and most importantly the exams prepared and confident.
