About Robert
I hold a PhD in chemistry, with expertise in synthetic inorganic and organometallic chemistry. I have published in the areas of synthesis, catalysis, polymer science, and f-element chemistry (actinides). I also have interests in nuclear medicine and nuclear technologies. I have been a faculty member and have taught chemistry at the university level in the United States and Canada for 10 years.

I approach teaching chemistry from many different perspectives, and use whatever approach is most relevant to the specific topic of interest. Experiential learning, and relating chemistry to tangible experiences in life, is very effective in demystifying abstract concepts that often arise in chemistry. Focus on fundamental concepts and application of these concepts to novel situations provides learners with a flexible base of chemical knowledge they can adapt and connect to other knowledge. This gives students a broader perspective of how chemistry helps explain the world around them.
