About Grace

My name is Grace and I’m currently in my final year at Arizona State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have four years of experience professionally tutoring high school and college students. I specialize in mathematics and writing and have extensive experience preparing students for the GED, SAT, and ACT.

I emphasize critical thinking, metacognition, and independent problem-solving so that students understand not only what to do, but why a particular method works and how to apply that reasoning to unfamiliar problems.

Lessons are individualized according to each student's academic background, strengths, areas for improvement, and learning style. My ultimate goal is not to create dependence on tutoring. Instead, I want students to develop the knowledge, reasoning skills, and academic confidence necessary to succeed independently.

About the lesson

Lessons are designed around each student's existing knowledge, academic needs, learning process, and goals. Instruction addresses both the academic content itself and the reasoning skills necessary to understand it. During sessions students learn how to break down complex problems, recognize patterns, ask better questions, evaluate their own understanding, and transfer what they have learned to new situations.
