About Allan
I started by catching lizards, snakes and insects in my back yard in central Omaha Nebraska and I asked my parents to purchase field guides so I could identify them as well as the birds in the area which was a very unique environment in central Omaha, Nebraska. I majored in Biology and Chemistry in College and worked in research and quality assurance, as well as testing foods etc. before obtaining an Instructor Position at DesMoines Area Community College in August of 1993 which I kept until May of 2016 when I retired.

I teach by lecture where appropriate and by providing pretests to answer the major questions associated with materials and then propose scenarios from the real world where the information might be practically applied to determine the cause and solutions to various conundrums which are related to diseases whether physiological, genetic, environmental, toxicological or microbiological.
