About Zeb
I began playing rated US Chess in 1971. The following year, I represented the United States on second board in a televised amateur match against the USSR. As the highest-rated amateur, I won my match. I reached my peak US Chess rating of 2122 in the 1990s and became a full-time chess coach in 1994. Since then, I have coached hundreds of young players and adults, many of whom have won US Chess National Championships. Few things bring me greater joy than seeing a student achieve their goal.

First I want to know what's my student's goal and what is the student able to do to achieve that goal. I teach by reviewing my student's games. Finding out an area that needs improvement. Then, I give them enough information to address that area.
