About Kate
I’m half Mexican/English and grew up in a bilingual household, so Spanish has always been part of my life. I know what it’s like to switch between languages naturally, and I want to help students feel that same comfort and confidence when they speak Spanish.
I started tutoring because I genuinely believe Spanish is one of the most useful and beautiful languages you can learn, and I hate seeing students stress over it or feel like they’re “just not good at languages.” You are, you just need someone who explains things clearly and makes it feel less like work.
My goal isn’t just to help you pass your GCSE (though we’ll absolutely do that). It’s to make you feel confident ordering food in Spain, chatting with Spanish speakers, and actually enjoying the language rather than dreading your next lesson.
Outside of work and tutoring, I’m working on improving my own chess game, I’m currently terrible at it, so I know what it’s like to start from scratch and put in consistent effort to get better. That’s exactly what we’ll do with your Spanish.

My lessons are for GCSE students of all ages. Every lesson is tailored to where you are and what you need most. I build the lessons around you, not the other way around.
I have extensive knowledge of the GCSE materials and what examiners are looking for, and we’ll use this to maximise your potential and turn your weaknesses into strengths. I’ll correct you on everything in real time, keep notes of what you’re getting wrong, and use proven memorisation and learning methods to drive improvement (although I can’t roll my R’s either, so we may be in that boat together!).
I’m pretty chilled out and relaxed - these sessions aren’t here to stress you out. My goal is that you actually enjoy learning Spanish and feel confident speaking it, not just memorising vocab lists. I think we can have genuine fun while getting you exam-ready as long as you are prepared to put the work in behind the scenes.
First lesson: We’ll figure out your current level, what you’re struggling with, and create a plan to get you confident and ready for your exams. No pressure - just honest conversation about where you want to be.
