About Angus
I'm a current Doctor of Medicine student at the University of Sydney, having previously completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at the Australian National University with a major in Neuroscience and Physiology.
I've always been fascinated by biology and the way the human body works. Studying medicine has only strengthened that passion, and I genuinely enjoy helping others understand the concepts that I use every day. Throughout my studies, I've developed effective learning strategies that have helped me succeed in highly competitive university programs, and I love sharing these techniques with my students.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy fitness, sport and staying active, which has given me a particular interest in anatomy, physiology and human performance. I understand that every student learns differently, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where questions are always welcome and mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn.
My goal isn't just to help students achieve better grades. It's to help them become confident, independent learners who understand why concepts work, not just what they need to memorize. Whether you're preparing for school exams or tackling university science subjects, I'm committed to helping you reach your full potential with lessons that are engaging, practical and tailored to your individual goals.

My lessons are centered around developing genuine understanding rather than memorization.
As a current Doctor of Medicine student, I know that the most effective way to learn science is to understand the underlying principles first. I teach using first-principles reasoning, breaking complex topics down into their simplest components before building them back up.
I also incorporate the Feynman technique, encouraging students to explain concepts in their own words to identify gaps in understanding and build confidence.
Lessons are highly interactive and tailored to each student's goals, whether that's improving school grades, preparing for HSC Biology, or mastering university anatomy and physiology. I regularly use active recall, exam-style questions and clinical examples to reinforce learning, ensuring students can apply concepts rather than simply recognize them.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and usually begins with a review of previous material, followed by working through new concepts together, before finishing with practice questions and a personalized study plan. I also provide advice on study strategies, revision techniques and how to approach exams efficiently.
I tutor Year 11 and 12 Biology, human biology, anatomy, physiology, neuroscience and introductory university biomedical science subjects. Lessons are available online or in person in Sydney.
I also offer a free first lesson, giving us the opportunity to discuss your goals, identify areas for improvement and ensure we're a good fit before committing to ongoing tutoring.
