I’m a guitar teacher with 11 years of experience in band coaching and ensemble leadership. I hold a Bachelor of Music Education with a focus on guitar, giving me a strong foundation in both performance and teaching. I guide students in arranging covers and writing original songs, helping them develop their unique sound. Whether it’s learning chord progressions, harmonies, or improvisation, I ensure every student gains confidence in group settings. I also support students in starting bands, organizing live performances, or recording demo tracks. My teaching balances technical skill, musical creativity, and stage presence. We explore rhythm, dynamics, and interaction to create cohesive performances. Students learn to communicate musically with their peers and bring ideas to life collaboratively. I encourage experimentation while maintaining strong fundamentals in guitar technique and music theory. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation in guitar technique and musical understanding. I begin with ergonomic posture and hand positioning to ensure comfortable, efficient playing. Students learn open chords, power chords, and barre chords, developing flexibility and finger strength. We practice finger dexterity exercises to improve speed, accuracy, and independence of each finger.
I incorporate ear training so students can identify chords, melodies, and harmonies by ear, which strengthens musical intuition. Music theory is introduced in simple, practical ways, including Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature to understand chord progressions and song structures. Lessons are designed to support expressive playing, whether performing intricate fingerstyle pieces or leading songs in a group setting.
Students explore rhythm, dynamics, and phrasing to bring emotion and depth to their performance. I provide exercises for both technical skill and musical creativity, encouraging improvisation and personal expression. Regular practice is guided with structured assignments and progress tracking.
By combining technique, theory, and musicality, I help students play confidently, interpret songs meaningfully, and develop a passion for the guitar. Every session is tailored to their goals, whether mastering solo pieces or enhancing group performances.
