About Marcus
Teaching feels like bridging the gap between my self-taught roots and the rigid theory I refined while earning my BFA Popular Music at the USC Thornton School of Music. You might catch me dissecting how those early days spent struggling with cassette tapes and basic tabs eventually informed my current approach to helping church-band players transition into secular genres. I thrive on showing students how to integrate improvisation, soloing, and complex chord transitions into their vocabulary.
Whether you are working on barre chords or scales and modes, my method balances the raw intuition of a musician with the structure of a degree holder. It keeps things honest while we navigate the fretboard together.
