About Margaret
I am a guitar tutor with 12 years of experience and a PhD in Music Education. My teaching journey has allowed me to guide learners from complete beginners to confident performers while continuing to grow as both a musician and educator.
I believe every student deserves lessons that are supportive, organized, and inspiring. My teaching combines structured technique with creative exploration, helping learners understand music while developing their own style and confidence.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy composing original music, researching music education, and collaborating with fellow musicians. These experiences enrich my teaching and provide students with practical knowledge that supports long-term musical development.

My guitar lessons are created to help students build confidence while enjoying music from the very beginning. We start with posture, rhythm exercises, finger coordination, chord shapes, and picking techniques before gradually introducing more advanced skills. I explain every concept using clear language and practical demonstrations so students understand not only how to play but also why each technique is important.
As students gain experience, we explore scales, fingerstyle techniques, lead guitar playing, improvisation, ear training, music theory, and expressive phrasing. I also introduce accompaniment styles, musical dynamics, creative exercises, and performance preparation to develop well-rounded musicians. Individual practice plans help students improve consistently while keeping every lesson enjoyable and motivating.
My goal is to help every learner become a confident guitarist who enjoys creating, performing, and exploring music independently. Every lesson strengthens technical ability, creativity, musical understanding, and performance confidence while making learning rewarding.
