About Begum
I am a classically trained violinist currently completing my Master of Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. I hold a Master of Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul State Conservatoire, and a formal Pedagogical Formation Certificate in Music Education.
Over the past ten years, I have taught violin at conservatoire level as a Teaching Assistant at Mimar Sinan University, and as a certified violin teacher at Hisar School, one of Istanbul's leading K-12 institutions, approved by the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
My performing career spans over fifteen years at an international level. I have been a Tutti First Violin with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008, recording for Deutsche Grammophon and Onyx alongside world-renowned soloists. I am also a member of the Fazil Say Festival Orchestra and have held orchestral positions in the United States with the Miami Symphony Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, Palm Beach Symphony, and the Southwest Florida Symphony.

My lessons are grounded in the Ivan Galamian and Carl Flesch schools of violin pedagogy, combining systematic technical training with expressive musicianship. Each session follows a conservatoire-style structure: scales and arpeggios, targeted études, and solo repertoire work — always tailored to the individual student's level, goals, and pace.
I teach classical violin to students of all ages and levels, from absolute beginners to advanced players. I have extensive experience preparing students for conservatoire entrance examinations as well as ABRSM graded examinations.
Lessons are available in 30, 60, and 90-minute formats. I hold a Master of Music from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Istanbul State Conservatoire, am currently completing my second Master's degree at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, and hold a formal Pedagogical Formation Certificate. I have over ten years of teaching experience at conservatoire level, as well as in K-12 education.
