Greetings from Honeoye Falls, NY. I am an experienced PhD college professor, literary writer (fiction and academic books), consultant, and tutor. My PhD is from Johns Hopkins University, MA from Northern Illinois University, and BA from Duke University.
I have tutored students at all levels. From Middle School to PhD candidates. This includes tutoring for writing assignments, comprehension, sentence construction, critical thinking, designing research assignments, and revising/editing major research reports and even graduate theses.
For me, I was born to be a teacher. And, I love to share my success as a writer (7 books and over 100 articles) with my students. It is important to inspire confidence as well as specific writing techniques.
Writing is the way to express your personality in a format that effectively communicates your ideas, personality, and research with different audiences.
I view tutoring as if I am your professional "coach" for a sports team. We can work on the basic fundamentals and steadily progress to sophisticated techniques as well as complex performance activities.
Tutoring requires patience, experience, and expertise. I have worked with students on a very wide range of topics and assignments. It is most satisfying for me to observe the personal progress and development of the necessary writing and critical thinking skills for my students to succeed in their educational goals.
My approach is to individualize instruction for each student. I will learn your strengths and weaknesses very quickly. We will then work on improving skills and self-confidence in the completion of your assignments. Each class is a building block in improving your skills and confidence. Together, we will successfully achieve your specified goals... and have fun too!
