About Chris

Ever since a young age, I have strived to develop character in all the aspects of my life. Two aspects which I have been particularly successful in are academics and public speaking. In terms of academics, I have received numerous Learning Honours as well as Awards For Academic Excellence. I have also participated in nation-wide competitions, such as the Junior Maths Challenge and more recently, the Intermediate Maths Challenge. In the Intermediate Maths Challenge, I received a Gold Kangaroo award, which is only attained by less than 8% of selected participants. I have been proud of my achievements over these past couple of years but I have constantly reminded myself to remain humble and to keep working hard.

I am also an avid Public Speaker, and have passed with flying colours in all the competitions and exams that I have participated in. For the past couple of years, I have been working through exams with LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art). The exams that I have done and their results are: Grade 4 Public Speaking (Distinction), Grade 3 Verse and Prose (Distinction) and Grade 3 Acting (Distinction). I have also participated in Junior Public Speaking for three consecutive years in my school. In Year 7, I won the Best Speaker Award out of Year 7, 8 and 9. In Year 8, I won the Best Speaker Award For Year 8. In Year 9, I reclaimed my title from Year 7 and won the Best Speaker Award out of Year 7, 8 and 9 again.

Overall, I believe that these skills give me the ability to be a tutor who is knowledgeable and versatile as well as being a empathetic and understanding person who can build a personal connection with my students and constructively build their ability in everything they do.

About the lesson

In terms of my teaching style, I aim to help my students in a way that they are not intimidated by the idea of tests and will be able to identify their weaknesses in different subject areas. I will do this by going through past exam papers with them and helping them attempt new ones. Students can also provide me with topics that they would like to be taught for the next lesson so that I can spend more time researching and go more in depth during their class.

Typically, I would teach a student for one hour but would be open to flexibility if they feel that they need more time.

Currently, I am aiming for this to be my first professional tutoring opportunity. This is because previously, I was not old enough to start tutoring. However, I believe that by becoming a tutor, I will be able to expand my opportunities and develop my skillset.

My lessons are for students who are working below or at a satisfactory level and wish to strengthen their current ability or further extend into higher curriculum. The age group which I intend to teach is ages 12 and under.
