I graduated with all high honors in my class and have been volunteering and tutoring my peers for years now. I know what it’s like to struggle with a certain topic and not feel heard and seen. I know what it’s like to have that fear of being judged by an authoritative figure or scolded for “not listening” or “not paying attention” or even simply “working harder” when in reality your brain just can’t grasp the way they are trying to teach you. I have used so many different ways to understand things and learn ranging from songs, to index cards. I know it’s hard to ask for help out of fear, or insecurity or anxiety but it’s better to ask for that help than struggle alone and give up.
