About Jack
I really love to learn, especially through reading and analysis, I like to write as well, I always enjoyed stories so I gravitated towards English and History as subjects. I also engage in a lot of voluntary work that requires me to teach a large audience through public speaking, and then other times teach one-to-one every week. Because of this I enjoy teaching, and I think I can lend those skills and that passion into tutoring. As someone extremely passionate about the subjects I took, I aim to teach in a detailed, yet comprehensive way, using exemplars and practice questions to illustrate how good grades can be achieved in essay and creative writing, and to further identify the skills that need to be developed. This can be stressful for GCSE and A-level students, so I know that my personal experiences in similar learning environments will be of benefit. I achieved an A in History and an A* in English for my A-levels, and Grade 8 for both in my GCSEs, so I'm happy to assist anyone for an hour long lesson for however long they need.

Lessons will be based around using a combination of past paper question and exemplar pieces to really draw out what's specifically needed in order to obtain the best marks. This is the best way to practise for exams and tests, targeting not only the key skills in reading / writing, but also timing and knowledge of the exam content, and providing experience to the student. With previous students, I've gone through a variety of past questions in the edexcel exam, planning responses with them, and allowing them to grow more and more independent as their confidence grows.

I've known Jack for several years and some of my friends children were being tutored by him and they were highly recommending Jack. So when my son needed English tutoring it was an easy decision. Jack has been thorough, reliable and has helped my son who was really struggling and on target for a grade 1 in English to now being at a predicted pass of 4 or higher which is just what he needed. His confidence has also increased across other subjects due to Jack's support.
Very professional, on time. Preparing my son for 11 plus. Son understands and we're happy. Definitely recommend.
I have known Jack and his family for many years and he is one of the most trustworthy people I know. My son has English lessons with him and he has a very patient and kindly manner as well as being a skilled and professional tutor.
My son has had 2 lessons with Jack now and is learning a lot. Jack is very punctual and knowledgeable with the subject of English language. Would recommend.
I have known and worked with Jack for a number of years and have always been impressed with his competence, knowledge and ability. He has a real passion for what he teaches, and is friendly, patient and tactful in his handling of people.
I would recommend Jack as a tutor. He has good subject knowledge of English from his A level studies in which he achieved an A star. I have known Jack for over 15 years and seen him progress through his schooling, in which he showed commitment to his own learning and high academic ability. I helped him with his Mathematics GCSE studies and he has developed good experience of what is needed to tackle exam style questions which he can pass onto other students. He is reliable, meets deadlines, has resilience and is determined to help others be successful. He shows patience and is good at developing confidence in others. He will be an excellence tutor for anyone wanting to progress with their English studies.
