About Sharmin
I studied philosophy at Boston University and earned my MFA in Creative Writing from New York University on a full academic scholarship.
Over the past seven years, I have worked as a freelance writer with publications in outlets such as The Dublin Review, Current Affairs, and Vogue Arabia, among others. My fiction has appeared in The Pembroke Review, where my story “Artificial Intelligence” was nominated for the Pushcart Prize, as well as in Moon City Review and The Meadowlark Review. My nonfiction includes work for Shondaland and Variable West.
Before freelancing, I spent five years as a copywriter and marketing professional, where I developed a foundation in clear, precise communication and audience-focused writing.

I am a former adjunct professor who taught Intro to Poetry and Prose at New York University, where I guided undergraduates in developing their writing and critical thinking skills. As an engaging and patient tutor, I work with students of all ages and specialize in reading comprehension, essay writing, creative writing, and admissions essay coaching. Many of my students have been accepted to undergraduate and graduate programs with scholarships. My teaching style combines expertise with individualized support, helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
