About Abi
I work as a doctor, now working part-time which affords me the time and space to dedicate to teaching. I can remember my favourite teachers from school, and how they gave me the time and space to learn something, provided me different ways of understanding things, and most of all never judged me for asking questions or making mistakes. I believe the patience that they demonstrated has made such a positive difference in my education, and I want to be a similar guide to those who may be keen learners or inquisitive by nature - but perhaps were just not given the same patience that I was lucky to receive.

Each session will be personalised to each individual and their learning needs. Once we have identified the goal of the session, I will start by encouraging pupils to tell me everything they know about said topic, which gives me a clear idea of where the areas for improvement may be. I believe it is important to assess the level of understanding first in order to tailor my advice and support to their learning, which saves us from wasting time going over things they already know. I can then supplement this new knowledge with practice questions and if preferred, can also set targeted homework to really consolidate this new bit of learning. I will also test their knowledge after an interval, to ensure that the previous new knowledge is retained and if not, to go over it perhaps with a different approach such as videos, diagrams or books.
