About Haleigh

Hi, I’m Haleigh Larson—a Yale-trained physician with a strong foundation in the sciences and a passion for mentorship. I hold both an MD and a B.S. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University. Over the past decade, I’ve helped students succeed in competitive academic environments — whether that means acing Biology and Chemistry courses, preparing for the MCAT, or crafting standout college and medical school applications. I’ve also served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow for two Yale College STEM courses across multiple semesters, receiving excellent feedback from both students and faculty. I know firsthand how overwhelming academics and admissions can be — it wasn’t so long ago that I was in your shoes! I bring not only subject expertise but also an insider’s perspective on the current inner workings of university coursework and the admissions landscape — something few tutors further removed from this world can offer. Along the way, I picked up strategies, tools, and mindset shifts that I now love passing on to my students. I work with high school, college, and pre-med students to build strong subject knowledge, effective study habits, and confidence in their academic voice. Whether you're looking to master complex material or navigate your next big academic step, I’m here to help you reach your goals with clarity, encouragement, and results.

Teaching Method:
I tailor each session to the student’s unique learning style and goals. I break down complex concepts into simple, intuitive explanations using analogies, diagrams, and real-world examples that make ideas stick. I also teach high-yield study techniques, test-taking strategies, and time management skills that empower students beyond the classroom.

Each lesson includes:
- A quick check-in and goals overview
- Guided review of current material or assignments
- Active problem-solving and concept reinforcement
- Clarification of confusing topics
- Strategy coaching (how to study, what to prioritize, how to prep for exams or applications)

Optional follow-up resources — like summary sheets, practice problems, or personalized study plans — are also available to support continued growth between sessions.

What Sets Me Apart:
Dual expertise in science and admissions: I’ve earned top marks in rigorous premed and medical coursework and have successfully navigated elite admissions to top universities, prestigious research fellowships, and medical school.

Compassionate and empowering: I create a judgment-free, encouraging space where students feel seen, capable, and motivated.

Results-driven: I focus on practical outcomes—whether it’s acing an exam, getting into a dream school, or mastering a difficult course.

Who I Typically Work With:
High school students: AP Biology, AP Chemistry, general science tutoring, and elite college application coaching (essays, interview prep, application strategy).

College students: Tutoring in Biology, Biochemistry, and Chemistry.

Premed students: MCAT prep, application strategy, personal statement editing, interview prep, research mentorship, and guidance for competitive fellowships and MD admissions.
