About Ellen
I have two years of experience running a KS3 Philosophy Club, which aimed to support students aged 11-14 in their philosophical studies and engage them in debates. I have been interested in Religious Studies and Philosophy for many years, and love engaging others with these subjects.
I have first class degree in Theology and Religion from Oxford, an A* A level in Philosophy, Beliefs and Ethics, along with an A in English Literature and B in French, and I achieved 10 A*s (including Philosophy, Belief and Ethics), an A and a B at GCSE.
I have experience working as a Teaching Assistant at a primary school and a Program Assistant at a young people's summer school, as well as voluntary experience with the children's charity Free to Be Kids and leading PSHE sessions at a primary school.

I am a friendly and enthusiastic recent graduate of MA Folklore Studies student at University of Hertfordshire, having completed a 1:1 Theology and Religion BA at University of Oxford. I am extremely passionate about my subject and love helping others improve both their understanding of religion and philosophy and their ability to reason and debate.
I centre my teaching approach around discussion and debate in order to improve students's analytical and argumentative skills in preparation for exams. Lessons will be focused around exam-like questions relating to topics students are having particular difficulty with, in order to both ensure all the required material is firmly understood and that the student is confident assessing relevant concepts and forming a strong argument of their own.
My own experience in the field of Theology, Religious Studies and Philosophy, as well as interdisciplinary studies in history and literature, has led me to believe that ability to debate is absolutely central to these fields of study, thus I aim to develop student's ability to argue from different sides of a question whilst maintaining a persuasive line of argument.
