About Greg
Like every other human being I’ve had a mind and thoughts since the earliest I can remember, I would lie in bed trying to fall asleep with a barrage of thoughts whirring away unchecked as I would struggle to fall asleep. I was a shy & anxious child and at around age 17 I found something very effective to calm the mind down - alcohol. I went to University but dropped out after two attempts. I then started working in hospitality as a waiter, which I found very difficult and stressful at first, to be a competent waiter you really need to be able to focus your mind on the job which I found very difficult. I was still drinking regularly and in poor health. The tide started to turn at age 31 when I first stopped drinking and brought some healthy habits in, the first being running. I didn’t realise at the time but running was the first form of meditation I discovered, I just noticed that I felt really good afterwards, which in hindsight is the clearer mind with less thoughts that meditation achieves. Soon after starting running I discovered a form of active open eye meditation called Bikram yoga and again noticed that I’d feel really fantastic after practising. I soon became quite hooked on it and after a few days without practising I would feel almost desperate to practise again to “sort my head out”. I soon realised that if I practised yoga in the morning it became very hard to have a bad day, I just seemed to cope with whatever life threw at me. After a few years I started to notice a kind of flow happening, life would just seemingly flow effortlessly along without much effort or stress, but it was still dependent on practising Bikram yoga, if I didn’t then after a few days I would still be “climbing the walls”. One day a fellow Yogi recommended the David Lynch book “Catching The Big Fish” which I subsequently bought and read. Catching The Big Fish is about Lynch’s experiences with Transcendental Meditation. I was so inspired by it within about 2 months I had paid to learn TM and I have been practising it twice a day every day since which is 6.5 years ago now.
The benefits of meditation to me have been and continue to be profound and numerous. It has really sorted my head out. I feel at peace, I’m really happy and usually sleep well.
Meditation helps me to work out the things I need to work out. It has given me a growth mindset, I am able to reach out and ask for help when necessary. Decisions have become easier, I’m calmer and more mindful. I cope with stress better, I’m fitter, healthier and more creative. I’m less reactive and more content. I’m more patient & more organised and more aligned with the natural flow of life. In short meditation is helping me to awaken towards my full potential as a human being.

- I believe everyone can meditate, it's just finding the right style of meditation for the individual.
- I am confident that I can teach anyone to be a competent meditator able to enjoy their own personal practice after no more than a handful of lessons.
- I have been practising meditation twice a day for the last 6.5 years and I have felt the tremendous benefits myself. The decision to learn to teach with the British School of Meditation was the easiest decision I have ever made. The course itself was incredibly thorough, I now feel totally equipped to teach a variety of meditation styles.
-Meditation has been proven in hundreds of studies to have a hugely positive effect on people's overall wellbeing. Unfortunately however it is often seen as a very difficult thing to learn, and indeed some styles of meditation are challenging at first, but I'm here to teach that some styles of meditation are totally simple and indeed effortless, when the simple 'knack' is understood, the effectiveness really has to be felt to be believed.
- I'm super excited about teaching as many people as possible to learn meditate!
