About Emily
I graduated from Bob Jones University in 2023 with a Communication BA. During my time as a student, I was inducted into the Lambda Pi Eta honor society, spent several semesters as a staff writer for a student-run literary magazine, received recognition as an outstanding public speaker, and wrote many, many papers! Upon graduating, I began working full-time as a horseback riding instructor, where I cultivated a student-centered teaching philosophy. Although I love teaching students of all ages to "speak horse," I've found that my greatest fulfillment is in watching my students achieve success. I love "lightbulb moments," when something that was previously daunting or discouraging suddenly makes sense and becomes attainable! I love the English language arts. But, as someone who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, I understand intimately what it's like to struggle with an aspect of school or college until it becomes something impossible. My goal is to provide practical help and clarity, yes, but more so to create deep-seated understanding in my student so that reading, writing, and/or oration can be a point of pride instead of an area of perpetual struggle.

Lessons are personalized to fit each student's individual needs. My desire is that my lessons are not only practical and applicable, but also leave students feeling confident and capable in their ability to communicate effectively. Lessons are best suited for students, from elementary ed to college and everywhere in between, but can be flexible to suit anyone hoping to advance their comfortability in reading comprehension, written communication, and oration.
