About Nikki
As a writing and resume building tutor with a master's degree in social work, I specialize in meeting students exactly where they are. My background in social work has strengthened my ability to listen deeply, communicate clearly, and support learners with patience and respect. I will provide structured guidance that helps students build strong writing skills and genuine confidence. With a focus on clarity, organization, and polished grammar, I help students grow into independent, capable writers who feel proud of their work.

Providing a strengths‑based, student‑centered approach, I am trained to identify strengths even when students can’t see them yet. I vow to help learners build confidence by focusing on what they can do and expanding from there. I want to ensure that students feel supported rather than judged, which makes them more willing to take risks in their writing. With active‑listening skills, I will demonstrate that a one‑size‑fits‑all method may not work for everyone. I will tailor my teaching to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals.
Beginning Lesson Plan (45-60 min)
* Make sure students understand the basic structure of an academic essay and practice developing a clear thesis statement and organized paragraphs.
*Warm‑Up (5 minutes)
Activity: Ask students to write one sentence answering a simple question like:
“What’s something you wish more people understood?”
This warms up their thinking and shows that essays begin with ideas, not rules.
* Introduce the classic structure:
Introduction, hook, background/context
Thesis statement (Explain that a thesis is essay’s central claim)
Body Paragraphs (usually 2–3 using the T.E.E.L. method: Topic sentence, Evidence/example, Explanation, Link back to thesis using the topic sentence)
Evidence or examples and explanation
Transition and conclusion
*Quick peer review or self-reflection and wrap up.
Available to high school students (9th-12th grade), college students (undergraduate and graduate).
Resume building help is available to anyone of all ages who may need a revamp to jumpstart their career.
