About Shelby
I am a graduate from The University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English Education. I student taught both Freshmen and Juniors Honors English courses, and I am currently in my second year of teaching middle school. Although I have not been in this career long, I have always had a passion for ELA, and I know what it takes to instill that same passion in others. I have witnessed firsthand what works and does not work for ELA students, and as someone who is adaptable, I can tailor lessons to meet the needs of specific students.

As a current English teacher, I know what skills students need the most and how to instill those skills with my lessons. I like to make learning creative yet challenging for an enjoyable and beneficial experience. Reading, writing, and grammar are some of the most important skills we as humans should learn inside and outside of the classroom, and I want to help students become successful by improving their knowledge of the foundations of English.
