About Grace

As a graduate, I am seeking ways to pass on my knowledge, as others did for me. I am about to start another degree, entering into year 2, where much of the content will be revision. I will have the time to prepare for lessons, spend time dissecting the perfect learning technique for each individual, and provide useful and interactive feedback.

I have always had a passion for learning, whether it be related to my career choice or just to develop a wider scope of knowledge. I understand the pressures on students these days and the competitive nature of exams, college and university places, and jobs. I myself have experienced all of these challenges and have developed ways to optimise my learning in order to give myself the best chance.

I am a bubbly individual with a "can-do" attitude and I do not believe in failure. I understand the struggles we face as students and the avoidance we feel towards subjects which we feel we will never get the hang of. I'm here to take some of the pressure off, and to work with the students to find ways to combat the mental-block surrounding this.

About the lesson

I use a combination of techniques that I myself have found useful throughout my education, to ensure that every student I tutor has a fair chance and feels proud of their achievements. I identify areas of improvement through a series of short quizzes, and most importantly I encourage open communication.

I tailor each lesson to the individual by adjusting my technique to ensure that interest is maintained, even when it gets tough. Throughout my own education, I have found that repetition is important in retaining information, and therefore, I have developed more enjoyable methods of doing this by using games, modern technology, picture books, and real-life scenarios.

Additionally, I have access to many textbooks and question papers for both National 5 and Higher levels in subjects including; Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry. I also have all of my own notes from university surrounding the core science subjects, especially Anatomy, which are colour coded and organised in a way that will optimise learning and memory. I will be happy to share these resources and take the time to assess and provide helpful feedback, reiterating that there are no failures, only lessons.

I have experience tutoring children between the ages of 10-16, and have had excellent feedback from parents. I am a reliable individual and I have a lot of time for education, as I have seen in my own life where this can take you. On another note, I spent 15 years as a dancer, spending a lot of time teaching younger children, and therefore I have developed ways to understand each individual and adapt my methods to make sure I am making a positive impact on their learning.
