About Lydia

I am a recent graduate joint principal classical and jazz saxophone student at the Royal College of Music, where I also studied composition, arranging, and my secondary instruments of the flute and clarinet.

My musical career is varied, ranging from orchestral flute and piccolo playing, to folk and traditional recorder, whistle and fiddle playing in a ceilidh band, tripling on clarinet, flute and sax in a pit orchestra, studio work with a rock band, and touring with a big band.
I have played in a variety of venues including Wigmore Hall, Ronnie Scott’s, the Southbank Centre, the Barbican, and La Sagrada Familia and feel like I am still in a phase of exploration in my music making, the energy and excitement of which I would love to pass on to the next generation of musicians.

About the lesson

I had the opportunity to be a part of serious and professional ensembles as well as attending weekly local music service bands and groups that fuelled my love for music and the community that surrounded me.
At the moment, I have a student who wants to pursue grades, and works mainly using music, and another who is learning solely by ear. Having had this flexibility in my own learning experience, I feel well equipped with strategies and learning techniques that suit different styles of learning and therefore different styles of learner.
