About Sadie

I am currently a graduate student working on my master's in clinical mental health counseling. I also currently work full-time as a Clinical Trials Research Assistant/Data Manager in the Neurology Department at the University of Iowa Healthcare. This role has been absolutely fascinating and has me thinking maybe another ten years of school to get a Ph.D. in neuroscience would not be too bad...

I have a range of oral communication, reading, and writing experience. For many years, I thought I was going to law school. I worked as a paralegal for two years and learned how to write letters for doctors, motions for judges, and settlement demands to defense attorneys. In my pursuit of law school, I was accepted into five law schools with three significant scholarship offers. I ultimately decided I was more interested in the brain sciences. The experience I gained, however, greatly improved my communication skills.

Back to my education. I graduated in 2.5 years with my bachelor's in justice studies, a minor in criminal justice, and an associate's in paralegal studies. I graduated summa cum laude from both Arizona State University and Kirkwood Community College in the fall of 2019. Now, I am back to school and am currently keeping that 4.0 as my first semester comes to a close.

I will admit my tutoring experience is limited. I have always done well in the subject of English and have assisted friends and family members with papers for years. They would tell you I tear their papers apart, but I can tell you I at least do so nicely. I have volunteered to teach choreography to middle-school and high-school-aged students ranging from groups of 2-70. I taught them blocking, projection, expression, and enunciation. While that does not really tell you much about my English tutoring skills, what you can take away was the fact I loved every minute of working with those students. Seeing those students overcome stage fright or finding out they really can dance is a wonderful feeling. The success of others is extremely motivating and fulfilling for me and what better to help others than tutor in the subject I am strongest in?

I would be more than happy to chat more with you about my qualifications if you have any hesitations or questions. Thank you for taking the time to read and I very much hope to begin working with you!

A lesson plan that does not work with your learning style is not going to do you much good. It is also unhelpful to have a tutor whose goal is a paycheck, not your success. I want you to succeed because I know how hard it was for me. I want to help you become the best writer, the best communicator, and the best-rounded student you can be. While my strongest skills are in English, reading, and writing, I can offer tutoring in other subjects such as math and science as well. My lesson plans will not start until I have discovered your learning style and what ways you best digest information. A lesson plan would look a lot less like a lecture and more like a workshop. I learn best by doing and I think you may feel that way too. My lessons are meant for middle-school, high-school, and college-aged students. I can teach writing styles ranging from legal and simplistic, to creative and descriptive writing. I cannot wait to work with you and help you achieve your English, reading, and writing goals!
