About Jake
I have a long history of teaching and tutoring in various settings, including volunteering to teach ESL, tutoring in math, science, history, and English as a high school student, and teaching both undergraduates and graduate students in a variety of fields at accredited universities. I have studied effective teaching methods and pedagogy at George Washington University, and strive to see every student succeed. Having taught in the classroom, online, in lectures, and in the lab, I am very flexible and prepared to meet varied learning circumstances and student needs. As a lover of history, I emphasize the context in which historical events and phenomena occurred, as well as the outcomes they had at various scales. There is far more to history than memorizing dates and events, and it is important to be able to approach historical topics from a variety of angles. Thus, I will provide societal, religious, economic, and political aspects to any historical subject. I will bring my passion and experience in history to truly give students a deep understanding of the period they are studying with primary sources, learning tools, and stories to help bring history off of the page and into a relatable form.
