About Drew
I graduated in December of 2017 from Palm Beach Atlantic University in South Florida with a B.A. in History and minor in Business Administration. At Palm Beach Atlantic, I was a member of the Supper Honors Program, which is a multi-disciplinary, "Great Books program" conducted via the Socratic method. The Honors Program revolves around primary sources in a wide array of fields including biology, philosophy, ethics, literature, history, psychology, linguistics, physics, and more, helping to mold young minds into polished and thoughtful individuals.
During my undergraduate career, I also had the opportunity to study at Wycliffe Hall at the University of Oxford in England, where I studied Gothic literature and philosophy of religion during the British Enlightenment.
Currently, I am enrolled to begin my masters in the Liberal Arts/Classics/Humanities at St. John's College in June of 2019.
As a result of my broad education, I am capable of teaching philosophy, ethics, philosophy of history, logic, history, literature/english, Classical studies, mythology, Biblical/religious studies, political philosophy, or any other field relevant to the humanities. I am also very knowledgeable in marine biology and coral ecology. I would be happy to demonstrate my proficiency in any of the aforementioned fields!

I am a firm believer in the Socratic method of discourse and dialectic, as opposed to the more modern method of lecture and testing, culminating into grades. I believe that education is an active pursuit as opposed to a passive one, where a pupil simply "receives" information from an expert in any given field. It is my belief that the role of a tutor is to inculcate and provoke the rational and sentimental faculties within a student, to inspire him or her to interact with the subject material in a profound way, stirring within them a genuine curiosity to expand their knowledge and therefore become more humane. I am a firm believer in C.S. Lewis's notion that the role of the educator should be to "teach young birds to fly."
