About Gemma
I once thought that I was a math genius who dreaded writing papers because they were, "boring and pointless." After taking an elective course during my first year in college, I discovered the joy of writing for fun. I learned of the power that well-crafted words could hold. It is in my journey toward discovering my love for writing that I hope to help you find yours. I have now curated well over 500 pages of academic essays that have received wonderful feedback thanks to the guidance of my own mentors. I believe that with support and practice, anyone may become a skilled writer. Though if you are simply looking for someone to help you pass your English class, my skills have prepared me to help you gain that A.

Whether your student is stuck on the first sentence or needs a detailed review before submitting a writing piece, I believe in using encouraging, guided support to help perfect their own ideas. A typical lesson plan includes a brief analysis of the needs the student is looking to have met, followed by a guided attempt to solve their needs without strong intervention. Next, if more guidance is needed, examples from different topics of the same genre of literature may be used to brainstorm ideas with the student. With continued struggle, implementing heavier support to motivate new ideas is used. In the case that a student has completed work that is in need of reviewing, I prefer to have both myself and the student suggest edits. After edits are discussed in detail and changes are made, a final review is performed together before your student is ready to go!
My goal is to guide, not tell students how to work or write. These lessons are for students in elementary, middle, and high school. I am open to working with students across all subjects.
