About Thien

Hello My name is Thien and most likely similar to you, I love video games, board games, and geek out on TV shows. I love them so much that I turn my interests into a reality by creating many of my own projects such as video games, simulators, and much more. I graduated from college so I understand the hardship of school and how uninteresting most of the material is which is why I plan to challenge the current education system and offer what public school failed to achieve. Think of it this way, remember back when Miss Frizzle asked to write a personal biography and you’re like “ughhhh boring”? well that is because there was nothing to spark interests. Now what if I tell you that it’s a step to developing a skill that you’ll be using your whole life? For instance, writing a resume with relevant details. Funny part is When I signed up, the website said to “reassure students of your professionalism.” Well, no thank you. Professionalism is essential in the industry, but for learning? Not always. I can show hundreds of programs that I developed that qualify for industry standards but that is what I can do not what I can teach. A teacher, student relationship is far beyond a textbook can offer. I am here to teach you skills that will stick forever not something you forget next semester.

About the lesson

I aim to teach the core foundations of programming and computer science to middle and high school students. My lessons will cover essential coding fundamentals, enabling students to develop programs that solve real-world problems. Recognizing that motivation and interest are key to learning, I tailor my lessons to each student's unique needs and passions. Beyond technical skills, my lessons also equip students with industry-relevant competencies, such as adopting a developer-client mindset, delivering impactful presentations, and more which will be impactful for school and higher education. Unlike other tutors, I aim to leverage computer science fundamentals to enhance students' thinking in traditional subjects like math, science, and literature. My approach integrates programming concepts with broader educational curricula, helping students apply what they learn in my lessons to real-world problems and other areas of study. My lessons will be online through Google Meets and I will teach students how to set up credible tools to program in.
