About Richard
I am new to the teaching industry. I have recently finished a degree in Music Production at BIMM in Bristol and in the long term I aim to find work in a professional music production environment, such as for a film or game development company.
In the mean time, I have experience and knowledge to share which could help anybody who is new to music production to kick-start their production journey. I can teach you to get to grips with Ableton, to use it's stock plugins to greatest effect, and provide guidance in moving towards the sound you are looking for.
I have 17+ years of experience in playing music, 10+ years of experience in composing, and 6+ years in production.

My approach to teaching will be based on the individual, their needs and experience. For example, one person may respond best if they can take some time to go over the fundamentals of Ableton, and of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) in general, before diving in to operating the program. Another person may prefer to hit the ground running, to create some layers, and to navigate the more advanced features when it becomes necessary to do so.
With respect to music composition, I understand that it is easy to get lost in the details and lose sight of the bigger picture when working alone. I can constructively critique your music from an objective position, help you to focus your efforts where they are really needed, and provide guidance with respect to layering, instrumentation, audio quality, production tricks, and the overall 'vibe'.

Travel cost is a single payment per lesson of any length, and only for any location more than 30 minutes journey by car from my home in Bristol.
