About Grace
Biology is a lifelong passion of mine, and I am so happy to share it with others. In fact, I like to joke that I come from a long line of Biologists, as myself, my mother, and my mother’s mother all studied life sciences (must be hereditary). As a tutor I believe it is important to maintain professionalism, but as a person who teaches biology, I know the power of a corny joke as a memory device. Thankfully, I believe it is very possible to do both.

Feeling stuck on the Krebs cycle? Confused between homologous and analogous structures? Or maybe you’re struggling to keep up with your class? Whatever it is, tell me about it! The first 30 minutes of your first session are free (via phone consultation). During the first 15 minutes you can explain what you’re looking for: long-term tutoring, test prep, or help with a specific topic. (I accept one-off appointments, but only virtually). During the next 5-10 minutes I’ll explain my approach, as it would relate to your context. After that we can decide if I can meet your specific needs. Depending on the context and your needs we can decide if it makes sense to move forward. If it’s not a match, that’s no problem; my policy is to do what I can to support learners, and sometimes that’s getting out of the way. Although in most cases where I find I cannot meet a learner’s needs, I try to recommend alternative resources. If you have a one-off topic (e.g., you just really need help with mitosis). I ask that you message with this information in your inquiry. That way I can (A) evaluate if I am a match for the subject (B) prep materials before our session. Please know that if you go into a session without letting me know what you want to work on in advance, or if you change your mind, I cannot guarantee a successful session. Examples of types students I can generally help (or who I’ve helped in the past): -Students who are currently enrolled in a high school biology course -Students prepping for the AP Biology exam -Students who are studying for the MCAT and stuck on specific biochemistry topics (note: I don’t do comprehensive MCAT prep) -College students taking any of the following: Intro to Biology, Genetics, or Molecular Biology (note: I have tutored other college level life sciences, so feel free to reach out if you are taking a class that was not listed). Whether you’re looking for a long-term tutor, or just need help with one topic, reaching out is free!
