About Andrew
My name is Andrew. I graduated with an undergraduate degree in philosophy and a master's degree in the philosophy of science (merit). I can tutor in all areas of philosophy, but more particularly in epistemology, philosophy of science and logic. I can help with the major philosophers, such as Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Hume. I can also help with Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and Sartre. My main area of research is Karl Popper’s philosophy of science (with a particular emphasis on confirmation theory, realism, methodology) and evolutionary epistemology. I went to university as a mature student after having read widely in philosophy beforehand. Many of my fellow students would come to me for help and I was able to get them to improve their writing, their comprehension of difficult philosophical concepts and arguments. I hope to develop my tutoring skills further while assisting someone else in their own goals.

My approach to private tutoring is to understand what the student’s goal is, ideally by them sending me materials they are working on so that I can prepare the tutoring more effectively, then to develop their understanding of the problem and potential solutions through explanations and critical dialogue during the lesson. The lessons can be free-form (a discussion) or structured depending on the needs of the student. I can also give written notes covering the tutoring.

I have been friends with Andrew since our undergraduate days and we’ve participated in many conversations about philosophy. Although I’m an outsider to the world of philosophy, Andrew has always managed to explain complex concepts to me in a patient, approachable manner and has helped me gain an understanding of various philosophical topics. Highly recommended to anyone seeking to learn about philosophy!
