About Laila
Hi! I’m a graduating Philosophy and Psychology student, planning to go on to complete a PhD in Philosophy. I’m passionate about helping students build confidence in these subjects while developing strong study skills that will support them beyond exams.
I studied English, Drama, and Psychology at A-level, which gave me a strong foundation in both analytical and creative subjects. My degree has further developed my skills in critical thinking, essay writing, argument analysis, and psychological theory, all of which I bring into my tutoring to help students understand not just the content, but how to think about it clearly and write about it effectively.

My teaching style is structured, organised, and tailored to each student. I focus on helping students break down complex ideas, strengthen their essay writing, and develop clear, well-supported essays and short-response exam answers. I also place a strong emphasis on revision strategies, exam technique, and building confidence with challenging material.
One of my strengths as a tutor is helping students develop effective revision methods and structured study plans. I enjoy working with students to make subjects feel manageable by organising topics clearly and introducing techniques that improve both understanding and memory.
Alongside my academic experience, I also bring a personal understanding of learning challenges. I have ADD and dyslexia, and during my GCSEs I initially found organising my work and revision difficult. As I progressed through school and university, I developed strategies that worked for me and helped me succeed academically. Because of this, I’m particularly passionate about supporting students who may feel overwhelmed or unsure how to approach their studying, and sharing practical techniques that can make learning more accessible and structured.
