About Santiago
Hello, my name is Santiago, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my love of languages with you. As a native Spanish speaker, I have always been passionate about my language and culture. I believe that language is a powerful tool for communication, connection, and understanding, and I want to help others learn and appreciate the beauty of the Spanish language.
In addition to my proficiency in Spanish, I am also a proficient Mandarin speaker. I have spent time traveling in China, immersing myself in the language and culture. Through my travels, I have gained valuable experience and a deeper appreciation for the Chinese language and its rich history. Also as a Taiwanese Huayu enrichment scholarship recipient, I had the privilege of studying Mandarin intensively for a year. This experience not only allowed me to improve my language skills but also gave me an opportunity to connect with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
I am excited to share my knowledge and expertise in both Spanish and Mandarin with my students. Whether you are interested in learning a new language for personal or professional reasons, I am confident that I can provide you with an engaging and effective learning experience. My approach to tutoring involves creating a personalised learning experience for each student. I believe in adapting my techniques and teaching methodology to suit the needs and learning style of each individual, as I understand that every student learns differently.
I often use a communicative approach in my classes, which means that I encourage my students to practice speaking Spanish or Chinese as much as possible. I also incorporate reading, writing, and listening exercises to ensure a well-rounded education. To make the classes more engaging, I use a variety of materials such as textbooks, videos, songs, and games.
The typical length of a lesson can vary depending on the needs and goals of the student. I offer 30, 45, and 60-minute lessons, but I am flexible and willing to adjust the length of the lesson according to the student's preferences.
As a tutor, I have a Bachelor's degree in Chinese & Spanish and I have been teaching Spanish to students of all levels and ages for over a year. I have experience working mianly with beginner and intermediate students. However I am confident to work with advanced students as well.
My lessons are suitable for anyone who wants to learn Spanish, regardless of their age or level of proficiency. As for Chinese, my lessons are suitable for students pursuing a HSK level 5. Whether the student is a complete beginner or looking to refine their language skills, I am confident that I can provide them with an effective and enjoyable learning experience.
