About Sakeenah
I completed a vocal performance degree from Pepperdine University in 2023. It was a meaningful milestone in a vocal journey I started as a very young child. Singing has always been a real passion and career goal of mine. Now I teach in order to help students discover the joy of singing, whether they want to use it as a hobby or ultimately pursue it professionally.
I started taking voice lessons in the second grade. By fourth grade, I was auditioning for and performing in local, all-state, and national honor choirs annually.
In my college years, I primarily studied opera and classical voice. At the same time, I honed my musical theater technique and have only continued to do so in the years since. I have also sought out formal training in contemporary styles, like pop, R&B, and rock. I am a confident belter and classical soprano. That combination is exceedingly rare, especially amongst voice teachers.
Past credits include Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Sour Kangaroo Understudy in Seussical the Musical, and ensemble roles in shows like Ragtime, Bye Bye Birdie, and Once Upon a Mattress.

I hold a degree in Vocal Performance from Pepperdine University. I have 14 years of formal vocal training and many years of performance experience in theater, choir, opera, and contemporary singing.
I work with students of every age in every genre! In my studio, we are not only learning how to improve our sound, but also how to establish a lasting, reliable foundation of healthy technique.
A typical lesson will start with vocal warm-ups and be followed by an age-appropriate piece, determined by the student's musical interests and goals. I do not merely critique and correct. I utilize a curious approach, asking my students to try things out and let me know how they feel. I recognize that every voice is unique, and there is no one-method-fits-all when it comes to singing.
